For many years, I had done local comics like this strip below from 1996.  Subject matter included Regionalism. Based on my hometown paper - the Virginian-Pilot, I created the "Pilotmobile" - a vehicular version of a folded up paper plane. Hey, Batman had his Batmobile, Elvis his Pink Cadillac. I delivered the morning and evening paper (Ledger-Star) in my pre-teens. A small store next to my paper drop on Ocean View Ave., sold comics. I'd read 'em while waiting for the delivery truck. The morning route was a different story - I'd nap inside apartments on the rug steps till I heard the screeching truck. When my brother got a van, I rode on the back tossing papers. Oh, the Ocean View memories.

I envisioned our most visited park, Mt. Trashmore, as a Mt. expressing Regionalism, the main 5 city's city seals displayed pridefully on my mountain.

It must have been a Bloods or Crips Iniation...and I was the centerpiece. They left me for dead.

Though, you can feel helpless just asserting the ridiculousness of some political issues, editorial cartoons at least can offer a momentary comic relief.
